Narwal Robotics is a Chinese robotics company that has a respectable presence in the US market. The company has now launched the Narwal Freo 20 in the US. It is a smart robot vacuum and mop that has many interesting features, such as the FlowWash Mopping System, DualFlow Tangle-Free System, NarMindPro Autonomous System, and an automatic docking station.
FlowWash Mopping System
It is the first model in the company’s Freo series to feature its FlowWash Mopping System. Instead of conventional rotating mop pads, the system uses a flattened roller mop that continuously cleans itself while moving across the floor.
When mopping, the roller applies 12N of downward pressure and rotates against the robot’s direction of travel. Sixteen nozzles spray fresh water heated to 140°F (60°C) across the roller, while a scraper and an air pump remove dirty water and debris into a separate tank. According to the company, this arrangement helps prevent the robot from spreading collected dirt across other areas.
The robot has a flattened design, which is claimed to cover approximately seven times more floor area over the same period than the standard roller mop used in Narwal’s internal comparison. However, this figure comes from laboratory testing and may differ under real-world conditions.
Narwal Freo 20 offers 31,000Pa suction
When it comes to vacuuming, the Freo 20 is claimed to deliver up to 31,000Pa of suction. It also features the company’s SGS-certified DualFlow Tangle-Free System, which is designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the brushes. Meanwhile, EdgeReach technology helps the robot clean along walls, around furniture, and in corners.
Navigation is handled by the NarMind Pro Autonomous System, which combines two RGB cameras, enhanced with onboard AI processing. According to Narwal, the system can recognize more than 300 household objects, including cables, slippers, clothing, furniture, pets, and pet waste.
Narwal claims an average object-recognition accuracy of 99%, although this figure is based on the company’s internal testing. The actual obstacle-avoidance performance may vary depending on lighting and the layout of the home.
The robot also includes dedicated Pet Care and Baby Care modes. Pet Care Mode adjusts cleaning around areas frequently occupied by pets and provides video-monitoring functionality. Baby Care Mode recognizes cribs and toys before switching to quieter cleaning settings.
The automated dock promises up to 120 days of operation
The Freo 20 comes with an all-in-one docking station featuring a woven-texture exterior. Beyond its unusual design, the dock automatically empties the robot’s dustbin, cleans the mopping system, and dries the roller with air heated to 140°F (60°C).
Its four-stage cleaning process can use temperatures of up to 212°F (100°C) to clean the dock’s internal water pathway. The station also houses a 2.4-liter dust bag, which Narwal claims can provide up to 120 days of hands-off operation. The actual replacement interval will depend on cleaning frequency, floor area, and the amount of debris collected.
Availability
The Narwal Freo 20 robot vacuum and mop will become available in the United States through the official Narwal website and Amazon on August 20. It carries a suggested retail price of $1,099.99, but will be offered for $899.99 between August 20 and September 3, 2026. Availability in other markets has not yet been announced.
